Part of the problem I have with keeping up to date with you people is down to time. The other part is down to content. I don’t want to put rubbish up here. I want to put something down that may prove educational and if not educational, at least something that is well written.
It’s no secret that recently I’ve been living in the moment with little thought of the long term.
It’s no secret that there have been a lot of things going on around me that I have done little or nothing about. I’ve been out or the loop and incommunicado and I’ve been aware of that.
There are new players everywhere you look, and certainly everywhere I’ve been looking. It’s good to see new faces everywhere, good to see them doing things too.
It’s possible because of my over-activity on a number of projects that new people with newer ideas and new passions may have felt that their input wasn’t welcome, or that they never had a chance to have their voices heard.
I can hear my critics snorting with derision here “the world doesn’t revolve around you”. No, of course it doesn’t, however there has been a lot of growth out of my shadow all of a sudden - I don’t pose this theory lightly, and I don’t live in a void.
What I do affects the world around me, and affects people around me. Without my influence, there is a gap that needs to be filled. Nature abhors a vacuum and something will always step forward to fill it. Sure, perhaps, there’s now another loud mouthed fat bastard taking my spot, but that means that there’s another opposing force to his opinion - right or wrong is not relevant at this point, but the fact that there is another strong opinion, another driving force to propel people to do things, create, and not stagnate, I think is vitally important.
So quoting from the liner notes of Del Amitri’s third album - “drink well everybody, and before you go out - change everything”
