Okay, so I barely know you. I'm probably way off the mark, but that's my first impression of you.
i'd say you're not far off, but there's this little simpering "i want to be liked" undercurrent that i know is there, but i keep stepping on so it doesn't come out.
I think most of us have that little "I want to be liked."
I have one -- only it's "I want to be loved, adored, cherished, etc." The easiest way to make someone want you is to make yourself not want them. As soon as they view you as out of reach, or unbefriendable, they just have to be your friend. Or they become really jealous of you.
Now I sound really conceited. It's not meant like that.

Sounds like playing hard to get to me. While I'm sure it works sometimes I don't think it's really a valid approach. Walking up to complete strangers and saying "Let's be friends for life!" works sometimes too. Not very often though.
