I'm worried about the live action adaptation of Evangelion. It has all the ingredients to be good - a massive budget, a respectable production company behind it (Weta Workshop - the guys behind the Lord of the Rings films), and they're keeping the original creators in the loop.

Although I really doubt Anno is happy about all of this. I've heard (unconfirmed) rumors that he was offered the director's chair, but refused.

Evangelion is hard enough to explain in a twenty page essay, much less a two hour film. No doubt, just seeing the EVAs on the big screen will give any fanboy, including me, goosebumps, but fitting all of Evangelion into one movie is a daunting task. Evangelion is a much larger entity - thematically and in its message - than LotR. And I hope everyone realizes that's saying something, considering LotR is a 1,000+ page doorstopper of a book, and Evangelion a television series.

I just really hope it turns out well. At the very least, I hope it gets more people to watch the original series.

Too bad the earliest Weta is expecting it to be released is 2006. -_- That's a long time for me to keep my fingers crossed.
