Nowadays they don't come out with a lot of co-op enabled games because it's hard to do a scripted game. But a new game is coming out from Valve that is supposed to be to co-op what counterstrike was to multiplayer. I like this bit posted by someone as a comment taken from the UK PC Gamer mag:
"Left 4 Dead feels like one of those games that was always about to happen. It's you and your friends versus a city of rabid mutant zombies." Left 4 Dead will hurl four survivor players into a mad world of apocalyptic horror and crazy dead people, asking them to complete objectives while facing a motley zombie horde including scary running zombies, horrible tongue-flicking smokey zombies, jumping leaping hunting zombies, fat hideous bubbling zombies and even huge hulking tanking zombies. But that's not all: the horde will be controlled by an AI 'director' and additional players can leap in to control undead avatars at any point. No screenshots are available as yet."
Makes me feel not so bad about not getting Dead Rising. I hope you can also play it over the LAN instead of over the internet... or you can make your own private servers like you usually can with PC games.
I still need to find someone who I can and woud like to play multiplayer games with though.
This could also be the first game from Valve that takes advantage of multi-core systems for larger more complex worlds with tons and tons and tons of creatures without bogging down and also better AI and physics.
