What a week. I still haven't heard back from any of the places that I interviewed for last week. Although, the last place I went, CITI, (not to be confused with Citi as in Citibank), said that they had just started their search so it would be at least a week before I heard anything. It's not much of a comfort but at least I have some sort of time frame to expect. This is so frustrating!

Yesterday, however, I got a call from a company called Metier (pronounced meh-tyay).. they do project portfolio management, whatever that is. They're located in Georgetown, about 4-5 blocks from where my mom works. Anyway, they're looking for an administrative assistant and naturally, they called me. Haha. Anyway, She asked a bunch of questions over the phone... she even wanted to know my GPA... I have an interview with them on Monday at 2 o'clock. The website (http://www.metier.com) didn't offer much in the way of information about the company... I mean, there was plenty of info but nothing that I could understand, haha. I don't know how much of a chance I stand with this place though because they're actually looking at my GPA (which was a measly 2.811.. so much for the blissful idea that no one looks at your GPA once you graduate!), and along with submitting another soft copy of my resume and the application, I had to email the lady who called my unofficial transcripts and a WRITING SAMPLE! I attached the final paper I wrote for my Intro to Policing class because it made the most sense and sounded the least like BS... even though in all actuality it really was a load of crap. But I got 100 on it so it couldn't have sucked too bad. Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about being evaluated on my performance in school. I mean I can kinda understand the writing sample -- they want someone who has a good grasp of the English language and can write in a manner that represents that... but my grades? Really? I mean, I didn't major in anything even close to Project Portfolio Management (I wouldn't know what to major in that WOULD be close to that!)... none of the classes I took and got bad grades in are representative of my inability to do the work...it's my inability to test well and unless there's going to be an exam every four weeks at this job, that shouldn't matter. Besides, what difference does a C make to this company if it's in a Psychology class or Western World Literature? Really? So, I dunno. I'd like to think that I can prove that I am a worthy candidate for the job through the interview itself, but it just seems like I already have two strikes against me. My grades weren't great, and my resume kinda sucks cuz I don't have a whole lot of experience. Although according to the website, not much experience is needed. Who knows.

In other news, last weekend my mom and I went to THREE DIFFERENT STORES looking for a sofa. We went to Nationwide Warehouse, which was our sure bet because everything was really inexpensive. Well, we got there, and it wasn't inexpensive, it was cheap. I expected it to be this HUGE place that had a lot of different kinds of merchandise. But no. I swear, this "warehouse" wasn't much bigger than say maybe two of my apartments, maybe 3, and their selection SUCKED. So we were there like 5 minutes. Then we went to Marlo Furniture... they had quite a selection but none of it was really my taste. They had a couple things that were okay but they weren't really what I was looking for, and they were more expensive. I have this exact picture in my mind of what I want... it's this:

or this: (feel free to give me your opinion)

and neither of those two places had it. Well, after Marlo, we went to this place two doors down called Family Furniture Discount Center. They also had a relatively decent selection and prices that were good especially compared to Marlo, but alas, they still didn't have what I want. They had a couple things that came closer but I don't want to spend good money on something that I'm only so-so about, y'know? So I came home with nothing.

Well, I got home and started looking desperately hoping I would think of another furniture store that would have what I wanted, and Michelle suggested Value City. I had looked at them in the past and completely forgot about them. So sure enough, they have what I want (the pictures are from their website) and it's not a horrible price (not great but I've given up hope of finding something cheaper). So that's what I'm doing this weekend.

I think today I might go to the pool for a few hours... I went last Friday and I went on Monday and I'm getting a nice little base tan. Yay for Italian skin that burns but turns right to tan. Woohoo! Anyway, that's about it. Wish me luck on this interview (and that I hear something from the other ones!)
