I'm so glad that I'll be getting off campus for Thanksgiving!! I'll leave Tuesday afternoon and come back on Sunday or Monday... I'm just going to skip French on Tuesday; unfortunately, I just remembered that I still have a meeting with T.J. (*cringe*) from 2-3, so I won't be able to leave after lunch (at 1) as I had hoped... I have to let Mom know. And I could skip History on Monday morning, as I've never missed a class... AND W.T. will be back from her medical absence, so I wouldn't be letting her down by not taking notes for her. As long as I got back to campus by 4:40 for my staff meeting... or 2, if M.H. asks me to go with her to her court hearing for moral support. Hm. We'll see.
Aaaaaaaanyway. I'm a bit disappointed that holidays never seem to be family-only right now, although that feels selfish, so I'm trying to be positive about it. It will be interesting to have my sister's boyfriend's parents and grandmother at our house, right? Meeting them for the first time? I suppose it's kind of like asking my parents to eat with us at JH's house... so I'll do my best to make them feel welcome. I hope everything goes well. And the day after Thanksgiving, we'll go over to my cousin's house to visit with her family, my aunt and uncle, another aunt, another cousin's family, and some random military people that my cousin is friends with. AND my cousin's new puppy!! :D
I'm especially looking forward to Wednesday. Mom promised that we could have a relaxing day together baking pies! I really hope it IS relaxing. Somehow we always seem to argue, and she gets really stressed out when people come to visit - so I'm worried about these last-minute plans to have people over for Thanksgiving, when we had been planning to eat at my cousin's house and not have any cleaning or food preparation to do at all. But I hope that we can make it work. I also want to spend the evening watching Practical Magic with her - and my aunt, if Vicky shows up in time! Keep your fingers crossed for me that at least Wednesday is a great day.
There are things I'll need to do before coming back from break, though, and I'm going to make a list to help myself keep track:
