You have no idea how many times I have screamed out loud while working in the past 3 days ...

I've mostly been editing verbatim transcripts in the past week. There's been many times I growled at my monitor and wondered "WTF grader gave you a frelling 8/9 grade - on a 9/9 scale - on this when it's very obviously not verbatim? You're MORONS!" *goes through and has to transcribe all the ums, uhs, ah's, stutters herself.* *stabs the original transcriber repeatedly*

I must say, aside from just the editing annoyances, doing transcription and transcript editing has made me more conscious of my own speech patterns.

I used to be a stutterer when I was a kid. I think I broke the habit sometime around 3rd grade? But I find some of that is still in my current speech patterns. And now I'm much more aware of it. And am consciously trying to fix it. =)

Oh see I get things like, "membership in which is between over 1 million people," and "During this period of chaos, the region entered a period of chaos." O RLY?

I admit, sometimes I'm guilty of mistakes like the 2nd example. Usually because I'm tired and really not paying attention. Then I'll go back and try to fix it later if I catch it. *grin*

But the first? Um... what the hell. O.o
