“Why are you so lifeless today Key? Are you feeling unwell?” Here we are at ‘Rosemary Vile’, the place where Taemin’s working at.
“I’m just tired”
“Your eyes are puffy and red. Have you been crying?”
“Hmm? Must be yesterday… I watched a movie after you left”
“What is it about to have made the Almighty Key shed his precious tears”
“You wanna hear about it?”
“Why not?”
“It talks about a man, two timing. Well, person A saw person B with person C cuddling and snuggling giving each other hickeys under a tree and well, person A was devastated. Person A went home and cry and it was a touching scene.” I saw how Jonghyun’s face froze up after hearing what I said. He didn’t expect it didn’t he?
“Uhh, it’s only a movie right?”
“Yeah, if I was person A, I would have committed suicide already”
“You better not”
“Why?”
“Cause then I’ll miss you” Lies but I have to stay strong.
“Really? I’ll miss you too” I took a sip from my coffee to prevent myself from crying again. He used his thumb to wipe of something from my lips.
“What are you doing?”
“You got cream on your face”
“Really? Thanks. But aren’t you doing this for a pretty long time?”
“HAHA, it’s all over your face. Of course it needs time to wipe it off” I was enjoying his thumb on my face when he appeared.
“Hi, may I take your order?” Maybe it was just his reflexes or something but his hands jerk back when Taemin appeared.
“Blueberry cheesecake please”
“One or two?”
“One”
“The both of you are sharing?” I was surprised at his question.
“Err yeah. What’s wrong with it?”
“I thought Jong was saliva conscious?”
“We’re using 2 different utensils…TAE”
“Ah, right…I forgot. Okay then, the cake will arrive shortly. Please wait for a moment. Oh Jong, here”
Taemin threw a small note and Jonghyun and then smiled at him. What am I? I’m made up of glass or something? I saw Jonghyun reading the note and then smiling at it.
“What is it?”
“Hmm? Nothing much… He found some of my favourite CDs and asked me to collect it from him later.”
“And that can make you smile like that?”
“Yup” I know that there’s something more to than just collecting CDs from Taemin but I didn’t bother to probe any much further… I had to pretend that I’m clueless right?
2 MONTHS LATER WHICH MEANS FINALLY ITS TIME FOR THE DECISION!
The time I’ve been dreading has finally came. It was the day where we’ll make the decision whether to stay together or go separate ways. I already knew the answer but I want to hear it from Jonghyun himself. Within those 2 months, Jonghyun have been doing pretty well in two timing. In the day, he’ll spend his time with me and in the night, under the four season tree with Taemin. Sometimes, they did more than just sitting under the four season tree, laughing and giggling. The four season tree was at a place where nobody will go at night. Why? It’s too deserted. Only residents like me who live near there passes by that tree every day to get home. But once it was dark, you could hardly see anything so people just take the other route instead, which is brighter. What did they exactly do? Sex. They had sex there, out in the open. It wasn’t really obvious but occasionally they would just do it. Taemin would kneeling on the floor and head in between’s Jonghyun’s knee and sometimes Taemin would be on top of Jonghyun jumping up and down giving out delightful moans. No, I didn’t get turn on by that. I was devastated. I couldn’t help it. Seeing the one I love so much cheating on me with another guy and having sex out in the open was just unforgivable. But then again, I couldn’t blame Taemin or Jonghyun… It’s neither of their faults. They were supposed to be together when I came in and separate them up. It’s my fault.
But whenever there’s sadness there’s sure to have happiness as well. Time spent with Jonghyun, just me and him alone allowed me to forget about what he’ll be doing at night. Those happy times, I would never ever forget it. The truth is that, since I know that he’ll be rejecting me, I’ve already booked an air ticket to America, to further my studies. No, Jonghyun didn’t know about this. Why should he know about it? We’re going separate ways after all.
“Key…”
“Oh hey, Jonghyun you’re here.”
“Yeah…Ah, it’s been awhile since we last came here.”
“Yeah, Paranormal Coffee was the place where I met you for the very first time.”
“It was also the place where we had our first quarrel”
“Yup, it sure hold tons of memories huh.”
“Not only that, remember the time where you fell sick?
“At the hotel?”
“Yeah! You said that we’ll fall sick and in the end, you really did.”
“We were out in the rain Jonghyun, anyone could have fallen sick”
“Nope, not me”
“Fine.”
“Oh and the amusement park”
“That was the best!”
“Totally! Your face was total epic”
“Yours too! I should have brought a camera!”
“But you didn’t and thank goodness!”
“I still have others you know.”
“Those were the times huh…”
“Yeah…3 months really fly past real fast”
“Time flies when you’re having fun right?”
“Mmm…”
Jonghyun’s phone vibrated on the table. He read the message and then gave out a sigh.
“Why the long sigh?”
“Nothing…”
“Jonghyun…It’s time isn’t it?”
“Hmm? Yeah…”
“Key, before I give you my answer, I wanna thank you for everything. For giving me awesome memories that I will never ever forget in my whole entire life.”
“I wanna thank you too. For giving my countless smiles and laughter. Thank you”
“So then are we ready?”
“Don’t have to be.” I stood up and took my bag.
“Where are you going? I thought we were supposed to know the answer today”
“I already know your answer Jonghyun…”
“What do you mean”
“Those meetings with your friend that needs help with songwriting is Taemin isn’t it?”
“Y-you knew?”
“Mmm” I sat back down onto the chair. I guess he deserves to know everything.
“The other day when you came over to my house, you forgotten to take your jacket. I went after you and saw the both of you under the four season tree. And also, I heard everything.”
“Key, I can explain”
“Don’t have to Jonghyun. You found your happiness so now, I’m going to find mine.”
“I-I’m sorry”
“It’s okay. I guess this would be the last time I’m seeing you. Taemin doesn’t like seeing me with you so goodbye.”
This time I took my bag and walked out of the café. My tears were falling. Those 3 months with Jonghyun will be the best days of my entire life. I made my way to the airport early. My luggages were already there and checked in. Pretty early huh? I made a request for it since I didn’t want to go home and see my parents tearful expressions. We had a hard time parting last night.
Jonghyun’s POV
After meeting up with Key, I went to the four season tree to meet Taemin.
“Jonghyun!”
“Hey Tae”
“Aren’t you happy? You’re finally free”
“Heh, I’m always free.”
“Okay! Let’s go!”
“Go where?”
“The amusement park”
“Why the sudden decision?”
“I haven’t been to the amusement park with you for a LONG time Jong”
The amusement park, that was the place where Key and I went to. It wasn’t like that day when we went. Today was packed with people. Maybe because today’s a Saturday. We were in the queue waiting to buy the tickets.
“Ahh, Jonghyun…Why is this taking so long?”
“You chose to come here”
“Have a little sympathy will you? Your boyfriend here is suffering and is being bullied by the hot sun.” Boyfriend? That title doesn’t seem to go well with him. It just doesn’t feel right. It’s early in the morning and usually, Key would be beside me telling me all of his lame jokes. Why am I missing that feeling now… Taemin’s right here with me and he is the one that I really wanted right?
“Hello Jong? Back to earth please.”
“Ah, sorry.”
“EESH, what’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing. It’s hot isn’t it.”
“And you finally realised. Jong, go get a bottle of mineral water for me please?”
“Why? We’re entering the park already. Just wait for awhile and when you have fun, you’ll forget about that thirst of yours.”
“Humph, petty” Was Taemin always like this? Always filled with complains at the start of the day? For 3 months, my mornings were filled with laughter and smiles and lame jokes. This is not the reality that I wanted. I finally know what I wanted. I wanted Key. I love Taemin but I need Key in my life. That 3 months spent with Key overtook ALL those feelings I had for Taemin for the past 3 years.
“Tae, I got to go”
“Go where?”
“I don’t know… Key, I have to find him”
“What why? The both of you are already over”
“No Tae you’re wrong. The one, who’s over, is me and you. We’re over. Long time ago”
“But you love me and you wanted me back”
“I do, but now not anymore. Without Key, it’s like my life is missing a puzzle piece and only he can complete it.”
“Go now Jonghyun and you’ll regret it”
“But Tae, if I don’t go now, then I really will regret it”
I didn’t wait for Taemin’s excuse for me to stay. I ran away from the amusement park, I didn’t have a direction to go. I don’t know where Key is, I don’t know where he is. I took my handphone and dialed Key’s number.

WHERE IS HE? I dialed in his house number.
“Hello?”
“KEY!”
“Oh my, is that Jonghyun?”
“AH, Mrs Kim, I’m sorry but could please pass the phone to Key?”
“Key…He left Seoul. He’s at the airport now I believe.”
“Airport?”
“Yeah, He’s going to America”
“Thanks Mrs Kim”
Airport. I hailed a cab and told the driver to go to the airport as fast as he can.
FORWARD! TO THE AIRPORT!
I reached the airport and quickly searched the airport. Where’s Key? Suddenly an announcement was made and I got an idea.
Key’s POV
I was waiting for my flight number to be called and that isn’t gonna happening till hours later.
DING DONG DANG.
Mr Kim Kibum Key, please come to counter 8 right now. There’s someone who’s looking for you. I repeat, Mr Kim Kibum Key, please come to counter 8 right now. There’s someone who’s looking for you. Thank you .
DING DONG DANG
Looking for me? I wonder who. I made my way towards counter 8 and stopped short when I saw who was the someone that’s looking for me.
“Jonghyun?”
“KEY!”
“What are you doing here. Shouldn’t you be w-”
“Be with Taemin? No, not anymore. I found someone who’s more important to me”
“Who?”
“You. Kim Kibum”
“What about Taemin?”
“About that? He’s history” He finished what he had to say and pulled me into a tight hug. There were people looking and some even cheering us on. (okay, forget about Korea being homophobic)
“I still have my flight”
“Forget about your flight. You’re going home with me. NOW”
“Ah wait… You, cheated on me for 3 months and now you want me to go back with you that easily? I still haven’t forgive you , you know.”
“Then will this do?” He pulled my wrists and placed his lips onto mine. My very first kiss. It felt as if like I’m floating on cotton candy, all light and fluffy. He releases me and smile
“Will you be with me now?”
“How could I say no?”
Blind dates? Whoever said that it will never work out, might be wrong.
