Embroidery

I have found a good many websites on Medieval & Rennaissance embroidery, but I am still looking for websites or books that have good clear patterns based on period pieces. I did find a pattern page from the Needleworkers Guild of the West Kingdom from Fall AS 35 which looks promising but I'd like more. Does anyone have any they'd like to share?

If you're interested in blackwork, talk to thebronwen. She's been working on reconstructing period blackwork pieces into modernly usable patterns.

Thanks, but blackwork really isn't my thing. I don't like counted work at this point. but I'll check her out anyways!

So what period embroidery are you interested in? Country? Century?

Yes! LOL

Actually, for this embroidered bookbinding, I'm looking at Tudor/Elizabethan. I hit a goldmine with the Victoria & Albert Museum online. You can request a high res image of their pictures online & download them. I hope to blow a couple up & trace them. We'll see how it goes.

Anplica, it's Merouda. I happened to find your project page here because I trawl around looking for people's projects. :-) I hope you don't mind that I paused to comment.

I am presuming you are aware of English Embroidered Bookbindings: http://posner.library.cmu.edu/Posner/books/book.cgi?call=655.7_D24E... )
