"if the cat had kittens in the oven, we wouldn't call 'em biscuits"

I finally got rid of my Ford Escort. For two years it has been sitting in the garage, not running. Didn't know what was wrong with the engine, but it had a million other little problems. Never had the time, energy or money to get it fixed. I called a wrecking yard and had them tow it away. They didn't pay me for it, but they didn't charge me for it either.

I had her for 9 years. That car moved me out of my parents house. Moved me to North Carolina and back. Many, many trips to visit people in Northern California. A trip from San Jose to Seattle. And for about 3 months every other weekend she would get me down to San Diego and back to see Pete. And then the move to San Diego.

Cleaning it out was an adventure in itself. So many small tokens I kept in there for one reason or other. Some for luck. Some for reminders of loved ones. Like a coral pin of my Grandmother, who will have been deceased for 12 years come the end of month. A bracelett given to my by Mishy and one from Darcy hanging from my rear view mirror. The poem "Politeness" by AA Milne pinned to the ceiling, along with a pic of my neices and nephew.

It was nice while it lasted. I hope she proves to be a good car to someone else, or her parts provide new live to other cars.
