Was playing last night and got ~inspired. Not what you think, I can guarantee that.

Prompt: Coffee
Character: Goneril Capp
Wordcount: 173
Imagecount: 1
Warnings: angst

She thinks of him when she has her coffee. Every morning, Goneril Capp thinks of her son. Hal loved coffee, even as a boy. She recalled being so strict with him, telling him not to drink it, that it would stunt his growth… he grew up into a big man anyway.

It hurts her, at times. That she held him back… that she prevented him from doing things he loved, because he was a Capp and Capps don’t do those things. Since she found out he had died, Goneril vowed that she wouldn’t be as strict with her remaining children.

It was such an odd thought. “Remaining children”. The children she had left. Goneril had reluctantly birthed four children and every one of them was a piece of her. A piece of her legacy, and one of them had simply… stopped existing.

When she drinks her coffee, she thinks of her life, the son she lost, and the future. The future of her daughters, and the future that her son would never have.
