Hampton Roads, but I grew up in Essex County. I also lived for a while out in Radford, and volunteered for the rescue squad in Pulaski County, which I think I saw you mentioned in one of your previous posts.
Gotcha. I lived in Christiansburg growing up, so I know Radford pretty well. My Aunt still lives in Pulaski. Now, as you have probably gathered, I work in and around the stinkhole that is the District of Columbia. :)
Would you believe that the Metro is my favorite attraction when visiting DC? I guess the novelty has probably worn off for you, but the whole subterranean train, triumph of human engineering thing still impresses the heck out of me. I recall being on the L'Enfant Plaza platform years ago and watching an (evidently) homeless guy walking around, screaming at the top of his lungs, "OBAMA 2008 Y'ALL! GONNA SHOW YOU WHITE MOTHERFUCKERS WASSUP!!!" I thought to myself, 'Ah, now I'm getting a well-rounded Metro experience!'
Leaving the Pulaski area was a no-brainer for my career, but good god do I miss the New River. I used to fish, camp or swim there several times a week. You've got to go to the ocean to see anything that pretty in Hampton Roads.

I don't think I had the right appreciation for the NRV when I lived in that area. I was young and wanted stuff+excitement, you know?
