Well to update any fans out there on the recents goings on....er today I had a very interesting lecture on sexuality and gender as a construct- if a man with a penis can dress up and pass as a woman and if a gay man can teach a woman to walk in a feminine way, aren't we all just in drag?
Erm...then I went on a little walk round campus with Alex, he bought me a Ribena ice pop which I preceeded to dribble all over my jeans and myself *is not very good at eating* I've just finished reading a novel as part of my exam revision. I'd recommend it actually, 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' esp. if you like Victorian Fiction because it's set in 1867 and lagely written in the style of a Victorian novel but with interesting analysis of the period- religious hypocrisy, Darwinism, sexual repression, details of class, all that jazz. Plus you won't have to read it and stop every few pages to write down a quote and try and be clever and go 'aha, that is metaficticious, post-modern, determinism vs. free-will, an element of rewriting the role of the fallen woman, BLAH BLAH BLAH can I really get a job from knowing about all this bollocks....'

Thursday we went to this coool 4-room rock club in Manchester called 'Jilly's'. I had a lot of fun, they had this cool classic rock room which played 80s shiz like 'Gold', and they had this indie room which played Suede who I have an unashamed love for and danced like an idiot to (those indie kids are a bit too cool, they needed to be shown how to 'appreciate' the music properly) aherm...

Aside from all this tomfoolery andd the like I have been mostly shopping...window shopping...more specifically Windows shopping as it hasjust been from the confinement of my little room. There is a frou-frou print skirt, plus many other beautiful items of clothing I would like to perform the act of love with..I mean in on www.getcutie.co.uk I may get some items from here, perhaps under the guise of them being birthday prezzies. I have also been loving www.ladyluckrulesok.com for their beautiful indie kid Debbie Harry Rockin' Groupie inspired jewellery, altho I may point out i actually have a 'ghetto blaster' brooch, and altho it mite not be as sexy as these ones for £12 mine was a cheap-as-chips £1. Also, i mite make one of those sweat bands myself. Some of it is unmakeable tho. They sell the stuff at a shop in Lancs so I may mosey on down and see what the birthday fairy wants to buy me...

.....they have birthday fairies right?

also we have discovered a cool new club in Lancs, which to us die hard Reading folk successfully replaces the Monday night Turtle-Fez. It's free to get in (my favourite price) has the cool seating areas and chatting comfy nooks of the Turtle, but the dancefloor you can only achieve by going to the fez. The music is much more eclectic which i like, but they still play the annoyingly repeated nu-metal-ish stuff I must have heard about a million times, they should play more underground stuff. last nite I found the perfect solution to counteract the tedium- sock puppet vocalists! You havent lived until you've seen the Lucy and Sammi sock puppet version of 'Let the Bodies hit the floor'. Plus it attracts so many people, a lot of them trendy heely shorty skirty wearing girls- don't mean to be a hater but they're too pretty and naked for my liking (we don't want Alex's eyes roaming). There's some kind of drinks promotion on on a Mon nite but theyt also sell YUMMY cocktails. They're expensive but I have fallen head-over-chocolate sprinkles in love with the chocolate white Russian. They also serve cocktails in martini glasses (the hight of chic to this pleb), and when we first went there I was properly mullered and Alex managed to persuade me to smuggle out a Havana Club martini glass- I put up a bit of a fight when it came to handing that baby over after all I had carried it for 9...seconds

Peace out, everybody remember to vote cos I hate hearing about all this young voter apathy Xx
