Cheating on Happy Things
I was reading through old LJ posts last night and thinking about how much I like when mingsmommy or cereta post things they are grateful for, or which make them happy. Even when I'm skimming and don't read each item closely, it's really nice to know that people I know are having a good day. So I decided I would do that today, despite the 2.5 hours of sleep I got last night.
And then it turned out to not be a challenge at all, because I got an email that really made my day shine. But that's no reason not to do it.
1) This morning I had coffee with the leader of one of my task forces. I like her a lot and she introduced me to another co-workers as her favorite task force member. We talked about task force business but we also talked about law school and told her co-worker (who is thinking about law school) hilarious stories of how you start looking for torts everywhere and occasionally go a little crazy. It's not often I get to have a work conversation with two other women and it was excellent.
2) I have an initial interview tomorrow for a position I'm terribly interested in. I honestly wasn't sure I'd even hear from them, since rejections often come in the form of silence, but I did. I don't know that I'll get past the initial interview, but I feel at least a little marketable now.
3) Tonight is the annual Taco Bell Reception. Yes, really. It's an office favorite and I have never gotten to go, because I have always had to run off to class. This year, there is no class.
4) I was looking at posts from a year ago last night, and I was stressing over law school classes, getting ready for finals, hoping the bookstore would get my cap and gown in, and worrying about the bar. This year, I am secure in my job, though looking for opportunities to grow, own a house, and spend my weekends doing whatever I want. Also, I failed the bar so on that front, the worst has happened and I am still alive.
5) I have awesome friends. I have the wojelah, raisintorte, and omglawdork for giving me advice on interviews and covering up bruises (dark stockings! Best idea ever!) and mingsmommy and smacky30 for thoughts on life and hawt Prentiss/Rossi pr0n.
