Inauguralized*

*probably not an actual word

I owe many many comments from the last few days, but I also have homework and work tomorrow and whatever else, but I have to say:

I went to Inauguration.
I woke up at 3am.
I had at least four layers of clothes.
The metro stations were a sea of people.
It was about 19 degrees when we got in line.
The lines were poorly policed. As in: not at all.
The crowds were at times, crushing.
Seriously? TSA to do security for 275,000 tickholders? TSA?
One of the generators to run the security checkpoints for the blue gate failed, forcing TSA to search people by hand.
The purple gate didn't open and ended up merging with the yellow ticketholders and there was some kind of additional fail there.
Did I mention the 19 degrees? For four hours of waiting? And I still have a hacking cough.
Some of the orange section had its view blocked by erected stands.
Some of the jumbotrons were blocked by trees. As if someone couldn't stand there and say, "Hey. I think there's a tree in front of this jumbotron."
I pretty much couldn't see anything.
I pretty much couldn't hear anything - there was both sound projection and speakers, which created some kind of echo that made much of the speech indistinguishable.

I would do it all over again in a second. It was possibly the best thing I have ever been a part of. I hope that when I tell my grandchildren about this, they roll their eyes at how old and weird I am, because that will mean that we brought them a better world today, a world where they can look back in history and say, "Why wouldn't we have a black president?"

saving the world, clear blue skies
