I honestly thought it was really obvious that John was the one who killed the guy in the first episode. Sarah and her, "We should talk about that," and "Well, maybe I need to talk about that..." I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been the first time John saw his mother kill someone. Maybe you could make a case for that, but it seemed apparent from those first post-murder scenes and John was the one who had killed someone for the first time. *flails* Oh JOHN.
