Okay! Suggested by ratcreature and kitchendinah, let's try a different kind of round robin.
I'll post a paragraph that can go with just about any fandom or any characters. You guys pick up where I left off. Don't worry if someone else answers first - you can build off my paragraph, someone else's follow-up paragraph, the multiple follow-up thread that comes later...let's see how many branches and iterations we can work out. LJ is remarkably well set-up for something like this.
"Oh, crap." He winced and jerked his foot out of the sucking mud at the side of the road. "What are we doing out here, anyway?"
"Our ride is shot," his companion said, glancing back at the vehicle. "What else are we going to go?"
"I don't see what was wrong with staying where we were," he grumbled. He rubbed rainwater out of his eyes and glared around the gloomy forest path. "At least we had heat."
"We would have floated away. Hey, look up there!"
"What?"
"There's a light. There might be a house up there. C'mon!"
