So there aren't that many things that get me really upset, but it does happen every once in a while - but instead of ranting and raving about it and feeling really dumb tomorrow, I am wrapping myself in happy things.
1)
fairestcat recced Boy Meets Girl, Girl Cures Cancer on
crack_van! I am flattered and tickled because that story totally didn't do what I'd set out to do and yet I'm awfully fond of it all the same. I like the idea that Katie has a reason to exist outside being cute and awkward around Rodney.
2) Marlowe is the frosting on my cupcake. I adore that he curls up for his naps on the desk chair where I drape my suits. (I know, I know, not good for the suits, but oh so cute!)
3) I am watching my FAVORITE X-Files episode. It's Sunshine Days which is kind of embarrassing considering how bad it really kind of is but I fawn over John Doggett bragging that he's finally gotten the job figured out - one episode from the end.
4)
raisintorte. And
her new John Sheppard banner. 5) Cheddarwurst. There is possibly nothing worse for you. Except maybe fried cheddarwurst.
6) Smitty's 29th-For-The-First-Time Birthday Extravaganza is just over a month away. I have yet to figure out how it will be an extravaganza but since we'll be seeing 29 at least four more times (and at most, as many as I can get away with) I figure this is the only one worth making a fuss over.
7) I have this old comment of
d_benway's in the back of my mind and I probably won't get the exact wording down, but he was talking about what characterized my fic and it was something about, "When Dinah talks, it is more interesting than in canon." (Okay, yes, I murdered that quote.) But anyway, it's one of my very favorite compliments because it goes back to the old saying, "Feminism is the radical idea that women are people, too." And it makes me terribly happy to think that the women in my stories are people, too. (And brings me back to Smitty's Unified Theory of Fandom, which I am not yet brave enough to post without a lot of alcohol, but brings me comfort in my emo.)
