[SGA fic] One to Let Go (Weir/Sumner)

Mar 29, 2006 01:30

control_freak80 had her one-year LJversary yester - *checks watch* - on Monday. And she and I have been adoring this picture for so long, that I finally broke down and wrote her Weir/Sumner. It was supposed to be a PWP of 4-5 pages and, well, we all know that doesn't happen to me.

I was very, very squeeful when you said you were writing this (Weir/Sumner is my secret het OTP-or one of them, anyway), and wow, you did not let down. Great insight into Elizabeth, and I could hear RP growling out every one of Sumner's line. I thought he was very believable. You did a great job considering how little you have to work with from canon.

Also, this gave me the giggles: "If he gets too out of control, I'll assign him to Rodney's lab. That should straighten him out in no time."

Oh, how little you know, Elizabeth. Straight is so not the word. ;)

Wow, thank you! I'm glad Sumner worked for you - I kept looking at his lines and thinking, "OMG, this only works if you can read with RP's voice in your head."

And...*giggle*...oh, Elizabeth. She'll figure it out soon enough. ;)

Yay! Done and posted! Well, you already know I love Mack's bedroom conversational skills "You in some kind of a hurry?" and "Let's do this." I also like the bits you added since I last saw this -- especially the discussion of Sheppard's marksmanship and flying abilities. Sumner's argument about Sheppard being a bad example for his Marines makes a lot of sense.

And the sex was so hot that now I am very sad Sumner was killed off in the pilot. The show needs to find a quantum mirror so we can have Robert Patrick back.

*grin* He's a slick one, isn't he? I'm glad you liked the Sheppard stuff - there were several incarnations of that one. :) A quantum mirror! I just saw the first SG-1 episode with that. And I'd totally be tempted to use it, but miss_porcupine is writing the "Sumner Lives" AU so I'm off the hook. ;)

*applauds*

Is good. Is very good. Looks so much nicer without {skip} and other things. Sumner is terribly good and terribly hot and still Dead Man Walking and it doesn't matter. And Elizabeth is great because she's so much a living, breathing person under the facade we got to see.

*curtsys* Thank you! (And what are you talking about? I thought the {skips} added panache.) :P Poor Sumner - at least he got some before he bit it. And yay! Elizabeth is one of those characters I like the idea of better than I actually like.

Cool :) I see you found a way around the "Marshall" problem! And very neat, if I may say so ;)

I liked this. Your Sumner was - plausible, and personable, both. I like the glimpse inside the mask. Also, it occurs to me that actually probably he and Weir are closer to one another age-wise than most of the other personnel on the expedition.

It's funny, but Weir tends to be almost my "little black dress", there are so many people I can see her paired with. I don't know that I'd ever have considered Sumner, but you do make it work. It's a little like her and Caldwell, isn't it? That tension and respect.

But now you've made me all sad about Sumner dying! And, ooh, that adds a fun extra layer to Sheppard killing him and all - wonder what she was thinking about that?

*grin* Thanks. I totally stole the idea from silentfire and then forgot to go back and change it in some parts so there may need to be some editing before I archive it.

Yay! I'm glad you liked him. I didn't know what I was doing until I started writing him and then he was a lot of fun. I can't tell how old anyone's supposed to be, comparatively. I thought Weir was supposed to be older than John and Rodney and then someone thought she was younger, by just a year or two, and Sumner should be older than all of them, but I always thought Simon was way older than Elizabeth but that didn't seem to go either so I have no idea. :D But I like it. It is like her and Caldwell a bit!

Thank you!

Well, mostly I was going by actor age - TH's age on IMDb makes her a year older than JF and two years older than DH, Patrick is 8 years older than her and Simon another three years older again. But someone suggested that realistically, Weir ought to be early 40s or older, simply to have as much experience as she does.

Of course, someone else pointed out that the "official" ages are utterly ridiculous, like, Weir's supposed to be 35 and Sheppard's 32, or something... No way, really. So who knows!
