Veronica Mars

I'd been hearing from certain people that I was in need of watching Veronica Mars to make my life complete. lisew was kind enough to give me a hand, so I have now viewed episodes 1-5. Tiny thoughts below, cut because everything in this show is a spoiler.

1x01: Pilot

No real comments on this one except that I utterly fail to see the attraction of Veronica/Logan even a little bit. Also, hey, look, Lilly Kane is that crazy chick from the House episode "Detox". That may be all. I have a theory about who killed Lily and plenty of background suspicion about people who didn't kill Lily, but nothing yet on who raped Veronica.

1x02: Credit Where Credit is Due

WEEVIL. I still don't know what's up with this Veronica/Logan thing but DUDE. Weevil has stolen my heart. And again? WEEVIL.

1x03: Meet John Smith

D00d. It always makes me happy when a mystery gives me all the clues before the big reveal and I STILL can't figure it out. Granted, I wasn't trying hard, but it was RIGHT THERE. I could have done it if it had even occurred to me to think about it. I just...hadn't realized the clues were there. Impress me much? Oh yes. Sadly, NO WEEVIL. V. upset.

PS: Will I burn in hell if I say that Melissa Leo looks like Miranda Otto plus about twenty years?

1x04: The Wrath of Con

...FINE. Veronica/Logan. I'm so there. Is there any V/L fic that doesn't spoil past episode 5?

I'm starting to see the pattern of these shows. I also love how Veronica uses the girls' room as her office. Also, I noted on the credits that Adam Wylie was a guest star but couldn't figure out where I knew the name. I then recognized the guy who played Grant, and in a fit of pique, looked him up on the guest star list of IMDb. Yes, so I recognized him because he was Adam Wylie and I recognized the name Adam Wylie because he was the adorable kid on Picket Fences. He was also Larry in Kindergarten Cop but sadly I do not remember which one Larry was. I have the movie and I could watch it, but the end always makes me cry. Y'know, when the little kid yells, "Mr. Kimball!" and they all rush Arnold's kneecaps. ...Shut up.

ANYway. Veronica/Logan. Also, there was not nearly enough Weevil this episode but what we had was GOLD. Thank you. Also, my theory on who killed Lily is somewhat shaky but not entirely. I was glad to see Mr. Kane smile at Lily's memorial tape. Too bad he's played by Kyle Secor and therefore inherently evil. In addition to the skinnydipping, the dress Veronica was wearing at the end was red satin and strapless. Lily lives on.

1x05: You Think You Know Somebody

Wallace gets to be smart in this one. This makes me happy. Troy exits stage right. Can't say that I'm thrilled, because I sorta liked him, and he was Iceman's twin brother, but he really was approaching Too Good to Be True and one must leave Veronica to one of the OTPs of Doom. (V/Weevil!) Actually, I forgot if it was episode 3 or 4 but I know it's not this one so I'm sure if you've seen episode 5, you've seen the earlier ones: I still have vague, nostalgic (can one have nostalgic love for a relationship we've never seen?) for Veronica/Duncan. I wish he'd stopped taking the pills, if only so we could get more hallucinations of Bloody Lily. I think Duncan knows exactly what happened and it's all locked up in his brain. To make my Tom Cruise proof open-minded statement, there's nothing wrong with using anti-depressants for a chemical imbalance, but the sense I got from the show was that Duncan (or rather Duncan's parents) were using them to keep from actually dealing with what he did/saw. Which, of course, works for the show, but makes me a little sadder for Duncan.

Yes. Apparently this is all. For now.
