I started re-watching Someday's Dreamers tonight. The voice actress for the main character, Yume, is so cute. I didn't realize it's the same actress that plays Nana Komatsu in the Nana movies (
Aoi Miyazaki). I feel like she's much cuter as Yume than Nana .... >.>
Sorry to people who don't watch a lot of anime. :P
Someday's Dreamers is a slow-paced, coming of age story. There isn't much of a plot, just vignettes of Yume's life as she goes through practical magic training. It takes place in an alternate universe modern Tokyo where some people can use magic. The magic world isn't separate from the non-magic so Yume meets a lot of different people and grows a long the way. Ha ha. It's cute.
Nana is a whole franchise, with comics and anime and a couple movies. It's a really complicated, supposedly realistic story about two girls living in Tokyo who are both named Nana. One is very sweet and a little naive and the other is in a band that has yet to make it big. It's basically one huge soap opera of insanity but it's really good. The author wrote one of my favorite manga, Paradise Kiss, so maybe I'm a little biased. :P
Yume from Someday's DreamersI like the Japanese title better than the English one they use. Mahou tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto literally means "Things Precious to Mages". Actually Mahou Tsukai is just "magic users" but that's so long. :P Anyway, the literal translation is closer to the "plot" of the anime. It feels a little cuter in Japanese than in the English translation ... that's probably why they changed it. Both are sweet titles though.
The anime fits my mood these days. I've been working on a lot of things to help myself grow as well. If you want to join in with me, I'd be glad for the company! First off, there's the Creativity Bootcamp! It's been interesting so far but unfortunately, just like in everything else I do, I'm behind!!! Even if you don't want to sign up for the workshop, I think some of the journaling could be useful. :) I know a lot of you are into crafting, too. It really helped me to think about these two topics:
Do you feel comfortable considering yourself an artist? Why or why not? and
What are your creative buzz kills? Obviously, I'm not suddenly ten times more talented at drawing now but I think it's good to think about how see yourself and how you think other people see you and whether or not that's something that's true. I tend to be really negative, at least about myself so sometimes I need to force myself to re-evaluate that stance. :P
The second thing I'm starting today is a yoga/writing workshop. I'm planning on using my blog for the writing part so hopefully I'll be keeping up with this guy a little better. Also, it's good to do yoga (or stretching or at least taking some quiet, focused time). I think it's hard sometimes to take things on that are purely for ourselves and I think sometimes we're discouraged from doing it as well ... but I think it's really healthy. :) Don't you want to be healthy? :O :O :O *Guilt Trip* Ha ha. Here's more information about the yoga
workshop. The author offers some easy, relaxing alternatives to yoga if you don't want to commit to a class, etc.
What are you doing over the summer? Anything special? Even though I don't get a summer break anymore, I still feel like summer is a good time to shake things up a bit. :) Riley and I are taking an Dog obedience class with Lomita Dog Club starting the last week in June. I'm excited for it. Riley's already very obedient but Lomita Club does classes to help you train for the AKC Good Citizen tests which Riley needs to pass to be a therapy dog. I don't know when I'll have time to take Riley around as a therapy dog but it'll take us a while to be ready to do it, too. :)
I'm thinking of taking a more intense yoga class or starting Pilates, too. What do you think? Have any of you ever done Pilates? I really wanted to take ballet but it's offered at the same time as Riley's class ... =/ They have all 7 days a week to chose from and they all have to pick the same day...
I wanted to take an art class too ... but that's just getting to be too many things XD I'd never have time to art! I'll be starting my own online art "class" if you want to play along. :) You can pick your own medium. I want to get the craft club on Facebook back doing something, too. I feel bad because I invited some of my sister's friends to join and then, right after they joined, the club completely died. Whoops~~ ^^;>
I have way too much on my list... I hope I can get through it all!!! :)

This is the ending song to Someday's Dreamers. I think it's pretty, in a calm way. Mainly, I'm just posting it for
waterlilyyuna because she likes this series, too. :P
Time to run~ See you tomorrow!
