Oakland A's and other fine tidbits

So the A's finally pulled it off.  For all of you that don't know, I am a huge sports fan and the Oakland A's have been my team for the better part of a decade and a half.  They have had chances to clinch a division series birth on 9 seperate occasions and would always choke when the game was on the line.  But this year they pulled it out with a sweep over the Twins and will now play the Tigers to see who goes to the world series.

Sara and I watched the first BSG episode of season 3.  What the hell happened to Apollo, he's gained at least 20lbs.  I won't ruin any of the story for those that haven't seen it yet, but I like the way the show is going.

Went to see Sloan last night, they put on a very good show, and keep it very simple.  All the band members were vocalists at one point of the set, which I also think is very cool.

Trailer Park Boys movie is about what I expected out of it.  Some filthy humor about shit hawks, but I was a little disappointed that there was no one shot in the whole movie.  This is usually their trait.

The new Beck album is good for those that enjoy the weirdness of Beck.  The album has kind of gone back to what he was doing on Sea Change.  There is not as much funk on the album as previous albums but overall it's good.

The new Killers album is absolutely brutal, it sounds like a desperate attempt to sound like Meatloaf, why you would want to sound like that is beyond me.

But the best new album of the month goes to the new Scissor Sisters (ta-dah) album, they can pound out the funk like no one else at this moment.  Some of the album was produced by Elton John which is cool as well.

Thanksgiving has been a fairly smooth holiday so far, mostly just watching football and stuffing turkey into my stomach.

Here's wishing the A's good luck in ALCS and I hope to write a message about the world series shortly.
