It's actually in an attempt to figure this out.

yeah...I know :) ...but it's not just for large entries though. Check out my journal. I just did a bunch of tests, with myself on my friends list. It doesn't recognize centering for text either...any ideas??

...but it is. When you view the lastn view (recent entries) each entry is displayed quite differently from the friends view.

In lastn, each entry is in a cell with the time and the comments link within the same cell as the journal entry itself.

Since the time is left-justified, and the comments link is right-justified, the cell that contains the entry text is as wide as possible - as wide as teh "super-cell" that includes all your entries.

On the friends view, the time and comments links are cut off from the entry text. Because of that, the cell your text is in is only as wide as it has to be to fit all the text. Since all those entries you have are not as wide as the "super cell," the text can be centered within the cell but still appear to be close to the left side.

That is why Suppafly's picture appreared centered on his journal but left-justified in the friends view. On the friends page it was indeed centered-in a cell that was left-justified.

Is that clear enough? It's kind of a weird topic and maybe hard to

I think I understand what you're saying (I know exactly fuck-all about html :P), but what about the "web test entry" at 2:37 AM? The text underneath it is "centered"...

That's because the way cells work the browser tries to keep it as small as possible, but if it has room to do it, it will make the cell as big as it needs to be to fit all the text without wrapping. That's why a paragraph makes the cell fill the page.

With the entry you mention, the cell is exactly as big as it needs to be to fit the top line - it's as wide as that line. Since the next line is centered inside the cell, and the cell is just slightly wider than that second line, it looks indented a bit.

If you put a whole lot of text in the first line, so that it forced the cell to be as wide as the page, that second line would appear centered inside the page.

Clearer?

OH WAIT!..I get it now!!...it's kind of on a slide-rule thing?? (the best relation i could come up with)...the "web test entry" is wider than the bottom text, "test"...so it strecthes out the cell allowing it to appear centered....is that it??
