Getting wet...

Jul 20, 2011 21:46

Why don't we get wet in the rain anymore? Well, unless of course we find ourselves caught in the rain and what do we see? We see people running for shelter. We even see cars speeding to get out of the rain and splashing the pedestrians while doint it. Why has rain become such a hindrance? I can understand if it's a thunder/lightning storm. Or if you are on the way to work or if the weathe ris cold.

But yesterday was a hot day. As the temperature fell by a few degrees in the late afternoon, I took D for a walk. As I step out of the building I notice the heavy downpour. The raindrops were coming down big and heavy. You could see the steam as the water touched the hot road. The rain was actually warm. My bigger concern was the big trouble it will be to dry off the stroller if we made a dash for it. So, I just unbuckled D and stood slightly out in the rain.

Why the hesitation? Each and every person who came in to the building showed concern that D would get wet in the rain. No one would have batted an eyelid if I took D to the pool, where the water is ice cold! So, what's the big deal?

Even the rain was concerned as we stepped out from under the building canopy and walked out the rain stopped to a trickle!

D looked so puzzled at the rain. She felt some fall on her head and her palms but she just looked so puzzled.

P.S. I hand wrote this entry first. It filled a page and by the end my whole wrist and fingers were hurting!! And my writing is getting illegible!! oh dear!
