After all these years, I've discovered I just don't have as good luck as I first thought.
We all have errands and chores we need to do every day, right? Anything from depositing money in the bank, picking up dry cleaning, picking up some milk at the store, etc. For most people these are easy and mundane tasks that they dread each day. I dread them for a different reason. They are never ever ever easy for me. I have piles upon piles of examples. But we'll just go over yesterday for now...
I got my cable bill and went to pay it, before I realized they were over-charging me by $14.95 for my internet. And of course since I've worked there, I knew it could be corrected. So I call, thinking I could quickly correct the issue - no...apparently the ONE person in the office who knew how to fix it was in a meeting for hours. (This, I knew was a lie because I knew who that person was, I knew anyone could fix it, and I knew it was rather simple). Yet, instead of argue, I just thanked them and hung up.
Next, to the pharmacy. I get my prescription and realize it's $7.99 more than every other month. I sigh and ask why. After about 10 minutes of looking through the computer, the lil lady in a white coat tells me my insurance information was "misplaced"...and once we get it figured out, I can bring back my receipt for a refund. I just shook my head, signed in the box, and left.
Then, on lunch I decide I'll go across the street to the gym. I go truckin' into the lobby, hand over my lil swippy thing and they stop me. "Ma'am! Your membership is expired...you can work out today but we'll need to renew your membership." I politely explain that I go through an outside company where I have no contract, hence no membership to end. The girl was snotty as could be saying "Uh well, according to MY system, you are no longer a member so you'll have to renew." Again I just thanked her and left.
After work, I call T-Mobile YET again to track down my refund check for the phone I returned almost four weeks ago. This ongoing saga was beginning to wear on me, especially since the company is still holding my $300. The call center guy was super nice but told me just what I thought - "Ma'am, we dont show that phone has been returned." I just sigh, again, and tell him I'll go to the retail store to fix it. Went to the store here in town, and after about half an hour, I'm told the check is in the mail.
While I was waiting at T-Mobile, I called Sprint to add an employer discount to my account. At the end of the call, he casually says "Do you want to add text messaging to your plan?" I responded with a "No thank you, I already have unlimited messaging." To my surprise he tells me that I don't, I'm paying PER message. SIGH again, and I tell him I'll handle it at the retail store. I drive across town, drudge into the store and explain the situation. Fortunately they were understanding and realized when they saw I've used over 1,200 messages so far this month alone, I obviously thought I had the unlimited plan. The $150 mistake was corrected and I was on my way.
After all that, I gave up. Couched it for the rest of the night. It'd be different if this was my day every once and a while - I understand things get messed up. But this is the case EVERY time I go to do something.
But let me know when there's a contest to win - I can win radio contests giving away bad CD's and tickets to ice skating shows like no other.
