There was a guy hanging off the garbage can. That was the first thing Matt saw when he walked into the bathroom. At first he thought the guy was dead, and sad as it was, finding a dead guy in the morgue bathroom didn't really surprise him anymore. It was when the guy groaned and slid onto the floor that Matt jumped, rushing to his side.

"Are you alright?" He demanded, attempting to roll the man onto his back. The guy waved him off, lifting himself to his hands and knees as he coughed.

"I'm-fine, I really-I really am-" The man spoke finally, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "I just talked with Dr. Townsend, and, and he-"

"Dr. Townsend?" Matt frowned slightly, grabbing the guy's elbow as he tried to stand, leading him over to the sinks. "Nigel can be a bit weird, yeah, but he's usually not nauseating."

"Wasn't him, exactly," He spoke up, as Matt turned on the water. "It was the half-open woman on the table."

Matt grabbed a handful of paper towels from the dispenser. "You're a morgue newbie then?"

"Yeah. William Ivers," He started to hold out his right hand, but thought better of it, instead reaching for the soap dispenser. "I've been assigned here to investigate alleged improprieties within the morgue."

"About damn time," Matt muttered, handing over the paper towels as Ivers shut off the sink. "I'm Matt Seely, Detective."

"Well, Detective Seely, I'm very sorry your first impression of me is this one."

"Hey, I've had worse. Garret-"

"Dr. Macy?"

"Yeah, Dr. Macy. He threw me out of the morgue my first visit here."

Ivers smiled, a concerned look on his face. "If you don't mind my asking...what happened?"

"Eh, I sorta hit on Lily, and I didn't know they had a thing."

"A...thing?"

Matt frowned slightly at the way Ivers' eyes seemed to light up. "Yeah. A thing. It's, uh, actually a long story."

"Detective Seely-" Ivers smiled widely. "I don't want to take up any more of your time right now, but...could I possibly buy you a drink after your shift, and you could maybe tell me more about it?"

"Buy me a...what?"

"You know," Ivers glanced at his watch. "I'm probably going to have a long day here, so what do you say we meet somewhere, say, around ten?"

"Ten?"

"Perfect. Ten. I've got to get back to work, and you've probably still got to, um, use the facilities-"

"Right, right. I-ten?"

"Yeah. There's this place a couple blocks away, Shorty's Bar, have you heard of it?"

"Yeah. It's um, I go there a lot..."

"Great!" Ivers headed for the door. "I will see you there."

He nearly ran into Nigel, who was heading into the bathroom.

"Oh there you are," Nigel smiled nervously. You feeling better?"

Ivers smiled, continuing out into the hallway. "Much better. Please, just give me a minute to collect my things, and I'll be with you in a moment."

Nigel made a move to follow him, but instead looked at Matt again, before stepping into the bathroom and closing the door.

"What's the matter?"

"What?"

"You are the second person I've seen today who looked on the verge of throwing up, alright?" Nigel sighed. "I'm starting to get sick of recognizing that look...but anyway. What's the matter with you?"

"I, um..." Matt blinked, staring at the mirror. "I think that Ivers guy just asked me out."

Nigel was at his side almost instantly, his voice low. "What did you say?"

"What did I say? What the Hell do you think I said?"

Nigel frowned at Matt. "Honestly? I have no ide-"

"I'm meeting him at Shorty's at ten."

"Shorty's? The dumpy sports bar down the-"

"Yeah."

"…are you certain it's a date?"
