...And it was abysmal. Very, very badly written - how did RTD let a script like that get past him? Some of the weakest lines ever in that episode, and overall, the entire plot was pointless. We've learned nothing about the Doctor and his universe, we've seen the Daleks do something which I utterly refuse to believe they would ever have done (which is the single biggest flaw in the double-episode), and basically we've regressed to the middle of series one, with Doctor vs Lone Dalek.

Martha was alright, which is purely down to Freema and her talent and her pretty, and no thanks to the lame lines she was forced to utter. Even Tennant couldn't pull off some of those doozers convincingly, and he's a grade A acting genius ("they've killed them, rather than letting them live!" - you don't say?)

Is there anyone on my f-list who is convinced by the idea of the Daleks combining their DNA with that of humans? Sure, we've seen the Emperor break humans down to their cells and use those cells to cultivate new Daleks. That's fine. That works. There's no significant human left after that, plus the Daleks get to keep their shells and thus their invincibility. They would never, ever, allow themselves to be hybridised with a lesser species. Never. And even if they did, they wouldn't wear a pinstripe suit.

The only fantastic thing about this episode was Tennant, who really is just... spectacular. Incredible. I can't imagine there's a DW fan out there who doesn't see him as one of the best Doctors of the lot. So much raw emotion, so much power. (And he has a very feminine figure too, I've noticed.)

So yeah. About 3/10 for the souble-episode, with the 3 points earned by the pure talent of the actors, and the idea of the Doctor being into musicals.
