a straight line isn't the shortest path between two points

so i wanted to write everyday, so i started.  But did i continue? ok, no, but i have good reasons Livejournal! I didn't cheat on you!!! I am loyal! so i had stuff to do and people and see.  I barely touched the computer fri-sun.  So I've been practicing some songs lately with a friend.  She's singing, and I'm playing guitar.  Our goal for now is to perfect a cover to do at an open mic night.  Maybe two if they allow two songs.  We've narrowed it down to a PJ Harvey song, a Portishead song, or maybe, if we can pull it off a Sia song.  The portishead song seems the most likely right now for our first try.  Should be a rousing affair.  I did do a song once with my friend friend Tori some years ago at an open mic night at this jazz club/restaurant she used to work at.  All the other people were covering these jazz numbers, bara-boppin, and zip zappin, then we came out and did a portishead song.  And the crowd liked it, and even asked if wrote the song, haha.

Sat I played croquet for the second time in my life.  Vanessa decided on her birthday, she wanted to play croquet.  So croquet is what we did.  The park she picked was perfect.  The day she picked was perfect.  The croquet equipment? perfect.  It was at Sutro Heights Park, so we played croquet from a great height.....a great heiiiightttt......I had never really been to that park in the daytime and seen it properly.  It's quite about the quaintest and cutest little park in the city.  It really has the aura of a palatial garden.  It's situated across the street from the cliff house, on that big rocky cliff.  So for one the views are fantastic.  It has all these statues, there's a strange castle wall type thing, a stone balcony, and the trees are perfectly placed throughout the park as if they were designed to be there by the queen herself.  It was all very english.  It was on the coast on a cliff, was very cold and cloudy, and foggy, and we all seemed to be a little more dressed up than average people going to a park would wear, so it was all very proper and fun.  I got there a bit late like i always seem to do, so i started behind, but I used every croquet skill available in my existence and and was one shot away from winning the whole game, but then gordon decided to extend the game by screwing me over, so he successfully managed to knock my ball out of the vicinity of the goal by a wide margin, using that crazy croquet technique of putting the ball under your foot, then hammering it so the your ball, right next to his, is launched.  So long story short, my ball ended up about, I don't know, 15 feet away from the thingy, and marie ended up winning the game, heh.   I still think that was pretty good considering I started 4 or 5 turns behind everyone else, and i had only played croquet once before.  That story is more boring and doesn't need to be told.....

later that night we turned on the tv and saw the last of the swimming competition in the olympics, and cheered on phelps and the us team win.  As I was walking home, I was thinking that, honestly  that was the first time I had every watched an olympic event with a group of people and cheered on america.  It really is a strange thing because I'm not happy with the way the country is being run.  Honestly I'm not happy with more than just the way the country is being run, there are a lot of morons in this country, and a lot of things wrong with it.  I really don't feel like making a list write now.  But in the end it's your country.  Other countries are very patriotic and passionate for their country.  I mean my mom is from bulgaria, she left bulgaria because it was communist, she's not even bulgarian, but she still roots for bulgaria.  It's funny because we're put into this situation where we can question everything, and given the luxury to question whether or not we even like our own country anymore, that we can question our patriotism.  I'm still glad i live in the US...although i could live in france with my  "almost" citizenship there....vive la france?!

when did trampoline become an event? lol there were a lot of candians in that event.  The new order of Candian Sporting Dominance.  Hockey, Skating, Trampoline.  I guess they need something to do indoors in the winter.  Before you know it there will be tampolines in every canadian household, and there will be new ways to have fun in canada in the winters on those cold nights ;) Let the new dynasty begin.
