[locked to those who live in/frequent the Tower][BACKDATED TO AUG 24th]

Sep 22, 2010 17:34

I realize that our last attempt at a community building event was interrupted by a tornado. I know that there were several deaths and injuries during this tornado.

However, we wouldn't be Chicagoans (and we all are whether we want to be or not at this point) if we didn't know how to stand up and continue to fight. I understand if less of you are interested in doing this after going to the fair or hearing about it.

The next planned event is camping, and the dates for it are September 24th-September 25th. You have a whole month to plan for it. We'll actually be going out of state for it. It's a less than two hour drive away in Wisconsin. There's a lake. There are cabins for those that have extra money to rent one, but tents will be provided for everyone else along with dinner, breakfast, and lunch. The bus will be pulling out of Chicago around 5pm on Friday. We'll be headed back to Chicago on Saturday evening.

Bring a change of clothes, pajamas, and your toiletries with you. If you need a bag to carry them in, those will be provided.

There will be pamphlets available and a sign up sheet in the largest common room. Please, write down if you'll be attending. You can bring one friend if you like but please, be careful about who you invite. I am really hoping that this event will run much more smoothly than the fair did. Either way, we can't let Chicago tear us down. There's still hope. There's still so much that we can enjoy in life. I hope you all remember that.

If you have any questions, I will check back to this post throughout the month to answer them or you can find me in my room or around the Tower as always.
