I've spent the last few days trying to figure out how to word this correctly. Actually, the last week, I've been trying to say something since so many people were lost to us. I think I've finally realized that I may never find the right words.

It doesn't mean much at all to hear or to say, but someone has to say it. I'm sorry for all those that have lost someone. Whether that loss was small or large, it was unfair and wrong for that person to be taken from you. I'm sorry for all of those that were trapped beneath the destruction of the Conrad. I saw many of you there. I saw how frightened you were, but how you held on anyway. So many of you didn't give up. And I'm sorry for those fighting the monsters, seeing terrible sights, and using up every reserve of strength that you had left in you.

And now that I've said my apologies, I want to say thank you. I was there in the destruction. I saw your strength. I saw how many of you didn't give up. I saw how you all pushed past your own limits for the sake of saving one more person. In a different city with different people, they may all have very well given up in the face of such disaster. However, all of you didn't. You're all fighting still, and let me tell you so am I, so is Torchwood, so are many.

This next part is more to Wanderers than anyone else. I have no hotel anymore. Both of my homes are gone. Like many of you, I own nothing but what I have on me and whatever I get from the insurance company. However, I've been here for a very long time. For me, it'll be three years in September. As we move forward in an attempt to rebuild again, I know how important it is to have someone to be a leader, to make sure that things get done, to make sure that everyone is taken care of.

I want to fill that role for all of you if I can, if no one opposes. I don't mean that I'll be ordering anyone around at all. I mean, that if you have a problem, if you're really struggling with something, if there's conflict within our Wanderer community, you can come to me. I mean, that I'll do my best to make sure that needs are taken care of, and if you're not a Wanderer, you're free to come to me as well, honestly. I'm not certain who will be there for angels now, but I knew Brando very well and I know about callings as well as anyone can who doesn't have one.

Later today, the Kashtta should be ready for all of you to move into. I'm moving there with all of you, and I'll let you know where you can find me once I've figured that out. If you ever need anything, please, do not hesitate to stop by.

[Added later]

At the moment, I'm in the cafeteria, if anyone needs anything. The one that's slightly farther away from the lobby.
