Crazy weekend- but fun. :) Ate & drank way too much.
Saturday, Mel from work had a birthday party for one of the work studies. Katie has never had a real big birthday party because her birthday's in the summer & she's trunging 21. Mel insisted that we all stay overnight at her place since she's out in the middle of nowhere which meant on top of the usual hazzards of driving after a party, there was a decent chance we couldn't have found our way back home in the dark anyway, even if we were sober. So I brought along my sleeping bag & Katie brought a really uge tend for all of us. It was a good time, except for the music. I have an extremely limited tolerance for hip-hop, which is to say I only listen to it when forced to. If I'm at a club & dancing, it's not as bad but trying to sit around & talk with friends, it's annoying. Katie kept saying, "What do people want to listen to?" to which I kept saying, "Something with a real guitar in it..." We did bust out both Billy Idol & Blondie, though, which rocked. :)
Today, I ended up having two picnics. Whispering Lake had it's annual meeting & picnic today, which was great. I've really missed them. Not since Wellspring but during the school year when my brain was going so far off-kilter I missed a lot of stuff. Before Wellspring, none of them had seen me at anything since December. I was either too busy with school work or too scattered to realize what was happening. I'm getting back into it, though. I've made Grove activities part of my trying-to-regain-my-balance plan for the coming year. Carrion picked me up for the picnic & we stopped at a grocery store so I could pick up a beverage. While there, my cell phone rang. It was my Mom telling me that we were all getting together at Aunt Denise's that evening. I asked if she'd be willing to run me over to the grocery store afterwards. And she said, "Funny you should ask that. I won't have to". My uncle got my car fixed. It wasn't a blockage in the power steering system- instead the transmission had sucked in a ton of air so my uncle just had to sit in the car turning the steering wheel back & forth for at least an hour to force all the air out. Admittedly, it shouldn't be doing that in the first place but it is. So I have my car back. It's pretty exciting.
Even if the "Service Engine"light came back on before I'd even driven a block. IT's still idling high but it's not making all the chugging noises & such. And it turns. :)
