ignore the iPhone, Blackberry, and PocketPC's completely!

No matter what cell provider you use, Android is THE way to go. It's an open source OS, which means any manufacturer can build on it, and open source developers all around the world -- people who believe software should be free -- are constantly writing FREE apps.

I have a FEW apps that I've paid for because they are supremely useful and rock solid, but 95% of everything I've installed on my myTouch3G was $0.

Unlike Apple, it's called the Android "market" NOT "store" -- no matter how many apps there might be that want you $.99, there are probably 5-10 other apps that do the same thing for free. Some of the free apps are actually better than the pay apps, and ALL apps have download counts, ratings, and reviews to tell you what's what.

Mine really has turned into my portable brain. I have a horrible history of going to the grocer with six items in mind and coming home with four bags, so I know GroceryKing has saved me a LOT of money already. With BookMobile and BarcodeScanner, I'm FINALLY cataloging my library for insurance purposes. I could gush more, but let's just leave it that there are a LOT of things getting done now because I can FINALLY do them quickly.

I'm already sold on the thing- it has an app that lets you use the screen like a sketchpad!- I just need a way to afford an extra $30 a month. :-)
