Pittsburgh Bellies in Erie!!!

Horoscope for today:

Physical exercise is vital today -- your energy practically demands an outlet! If you must stay sedentary, try some yoga or stretching. Even creative visualization might be enough for you.

Wow, I am sore! In a good way, though- in the way that says that I have worked every major muscle group (& most of the minor ones) to their limits.

I ended up missing the two workshops I had scheduled for Saturday. The house was *freezing* Friday night because of the snow storm & my bedroom was particularly cold so so I ended up not getting a whole lot of sleep because I was up most of the night shivering. When I tried to get up for the first workshop, I was already sore & exhausted from all the shivering, so I just went back to sleep. I felt better when I got up later, which was good since I was one of the performers.

As it turned out, we had a bunch of the out-of-town folks cancel because of the weather- except for the groups frm Buffalo & the Pittsburgh groups that were headlining. We also still got a really good crowd to show up to watch- it looked like nearly every seat was sold! Guess we must just be used to the crazy weather. (We have to be around here, really- otherwise for 6 months of the year we'd never do anything).

My performance went really well. I did the same sword dance that I did at the Buffalo Haflaween & only had the sword fall 3 times, which is a significant improvement. Of those 3 times, it only hit the floor once- the other two times I caught it in midair & flourished it to make it look less accidental. So, overall, I'm pleased.

The other performers were all really amazing- especially the Pittsbugh groups who were our headliners. I was a little disappointed to find out that my SCA friend isn't in Kafif any more but all the dancers they do have are wonderful. And Zafira remains my most favorite dance troupe ever- those gals are *AMAZING*.

I took two workshops today- a veil one with Safa of Kafif & a choreography one with the ladies of Sadiqa- both were *excellent*. One of the more experienced girls in the veil class mentioned that the previous veil workshops she's taken were often lacking in techinical details- that was *very* not the case here. I'm going to get the class to work in at least on of the moves I learned at the Sadiqa workshop into our choreography for this year because they fit our music so well. Whee! :-)

And now, I must rest...

bellydance, tribal, performing
