"The Chair is Small; The Ass is Wide"

Work's been going quite well, generally. Country Girl's not picking up stuff at all quickly- they're still having her do practice pieces instead of working on actual nets. Makes me wonder how long she's going to last.

My boss actually said something to me today about my tendency to be 5-10 minutes late in the morning. He said, "make sure when you punch in late that you're punching out just as late so you don't come up short on your hours. If you drop below 40 hours a week, you'll lose your insurance." In reality, I wish I didn't have such a hard time getting up in the morning so that I could get to work on time. Still, it's nice that I don't really have to panic about it.

Meanwhile, I've been the butt of several jokes. Or, more accurately, jokes were made about my butt. Actually, the Joker was talking about more than just me but F got a good zinger on me. We got a new chair for one of the box stitchers & when the Joker sat down on it for the first time today, she said something in Bosnian- along with hand gestures- that made F, H & Inspector S chuckle. Then she asked me, "Do you know what I say?" When I shook my head, she grinned & said, "The chair is small; the ass is wide." Then F chimed in with something in Russian that included my name. I looked at her & said "Did you just that I have a fat ass?" She grinned & nodded. What she'd said was, "The chair is alright for me but for Sharon it is too small." She *is* smaller than I am. Good thing I have a good sense of humor about myself. :-D They weren't being mean about it anyway- just good-natured teasing. Like when Anger Management Guy told me that next time I should get a longer apron, as the one I had was hanging below my knees. (I hemmed it & it's fine now but it was *really* long on me).

We had another person start today- another Russian. He's worked there before, so he just needs some brush-up on things. Once he passes his drug test, he'll be working on nets right quick.

In other news, I saw The Secret of Roan Inish in a bargain DVD rack at the grocery store today & picked it up. It's a sweet movie & I've always meant to pick it up. I'm also attempting to dye my hair purple this evening. I love having a job with no dress code. :-D
