Really! I have this brilliant idea for an art show!
Well, brilliant is debatable of course, but I think it'll be a neat idea. See, a little bit ago I started thinking about making modern fetish jewelry- similar in some respects to primitive & aboriginal types of fetishes, but dealing with modern issues. For example, I'm currently working through one to prevent hard drive failure.
So I'm gathering dead & outdated computer equipment for two reasons. First is for reference. The hard drive failure piece? I have an actual dead hard drive with the cover off that I'm using for reference. I'll be looking at other pieces for similar ideas. Yes, I'm toying around with sympathetic magic here.
The second is because along with the jewelry pieces I'm creating, I'm going to use the computer bits to create shrines, the idea of all of it being that computers & technology have become their own religion in the importance that they have in people's lives. I don't know when the show will be at this point- I'm sure I'd need at least six months or more to get it together, possibly a year.
