so, when i moved (yay for move being done *does happy dance*) i decided that i need a more simpler and easier life, and started to define that for me, since that is what living simply is all about, and also getting rid of much stuff. you wouldnt believe how much stuff i threw out- starting with papers, and ending with clothes and everything in ( Read more... )

It makes sense to me. My mother always asks me what I want, then she ignores it and gives me stuff I don't want. So being able to say that and have them listen to you would cut down on a lot of angst and stress. :)
Also, video games and books are presents! Expensive ones, at times!

No it's totally reasonable. Lead off with these are what I actually want or something.

the actually makes your phrase quite catching: instead of giving me clutter, here a list of things i would like, use and need.
still i feel like my family would say i am a prat... though i help them save money when you look at it...

Actually it makes a lot of sense to me. The relationship I have with my family is like that, I can perfectly well go to them and tell them what I'd like for birthday or for Christmas and they'd be happy with that help, you know? So to me it's brilliant and I'd be happy to do it if my brother/sister/nephews/dad do this. :)

that sounds awesome!
sadly my family does not work that way - yet- maybe i can get it to do that? it would make things so much easier, lets see how it will go- i will keep you posted after christmas if it worked out and i got what i wanted XD

I would much rather someone told me what they want (or don't want!), so as to make the best choice in gifts.

I, too, am trying not to ask for "stuff" for the holidays. However, I am going to list things that can be used up, such as lotion, candles, fancy chocolates, etc.

right, it would make the season so much more easy! so yes i will go and tell them *takes all my courage*
and uhhh for fancy chocolates! and candles, i am not so much with you on the lostions- some of them are so sticky and so intense in the smell-department (is that even a phrase in english? the xy-department?) that i cant stand them, so you are brave!
