The main reason I have been a little M.I.A of late is my grandpa had mini-stroke about two weeks ago. He is fine now. He was in the hospital for a few days and then in rehabilitation for a less than a week. He’s gotten his strength back and he looks really good. It was just time consuming, because I was out there every day with him. But, he is doing great. His gait is strong and he’s getting up and down the stairs just fine. He was a little weepy today, but that is par for the course, given the season.
So, for a quick update:
I just finished this years’ round of Pen/O. Henry Prize Stories, which were all really fucking good. Check Shepard’s “
Boys Town” and Wilson’s “A Birth in the Woods”.
I am just laying around, waiting to hear from grad schools. I got into West Chester (which was my safety), but I haven't heard from anywhere else.
Ughhhhhhhhh. I am so ready for this semester to be over. I finally knocked out my 20 page rhetoric paper. I actually turned it in a few days before it was due (Huzzah!).Next semester I am taking Experience of Poetry, Culture of Hinduism and Buddhism, British Cinema and James Joyce. I have an awkward hour around noon on MWF, when I am not working and I don’t have class or work, that I was thinking of taking a Grant Writing course (either auditing or pass/fail), but of course, none are being offered at that time. Balls.
I’m ready for the main sporting events to go away for awhile, so I am not constantly dealing with people yelling at me for not letting them through without IDs, even though I am just doing my job.
