It’s that time of the semester again: pre-enrollment for next year. As a rising senior, I get to pick my classes first - which is this Wednesday. I had been putting off deciding what I am going to do next year, because as of this semester, I will have finished all my requirements including distribution requirements, requirements for my major and for vet school. So, I’m like, what next?
Well today I have decided. I will be doing an honors thesis, which was always part of the plan, going off of the research project I started this year. So, I’ll increase the amount of time I spend in the lab each week and do about 4 credits for that. Also, I am looking into being a TA for the freshman animal science class, Domestic Animal Biology, but that is not 100% yet. The professor that is teaching it next year is the Animal Reproduction and Development prof. (the class that I am currently a TA for) and he’s pushing me to do that. But, I think it could be good.
And then there are the actual classes. I’ll be taking only 4, and only two of them will be sciences. That feels kind of crazy because I am used to taking about 4 or 5 sciences a semester (case in point: last Spring, I took Organic Chemistry, Genetics, Animal Reproduction and Development, Genetics and Evolution of Animal Behavior and Microbiology - OK that semester was an extreme case, but still…). But I figured that I have the next four years after I get into vet school to focus completely on science. So here’s what I will be enrolling in:
1. Basic Immunology Lectures (department: Biomedical Sciences)
2. Cardiac Electrophysiology (department: Animal Physiology)
3. Greek Mythology (department: Classics)
4. TELEVISION (department: Visual Studies)
FYI, it’s the first year that the class Television is being offered, so I honestly have absolutely no idea what the class entails. But, I’m really hoping I get to obsess about my TV shows FOR CREDIT - because I do it anyway :P
The way my schedule works out with these classes, I will have a whole bunch of free time, which I can spend at the research lab, or just being a senior (translation: doing nothing) :).
P.S. BOOOOOONES 100 THIS WEEK! I just watched the pilot (for the what, 6th time?) this weekend and I am soooo psyched!
bones,
senior year
