Well, now my own boyfriend invited me to Facebook. So it seems like many people that I know have one, and want me to make one. And it seems to have some cool features. But, I'm still not totally convinced to make one. I already have MySpace and LiveJournal. Why do I need another network like these?
Before you start commenting, let me spare you this conversation:
Me: Why should I join Facebook?
You: Beacause I'M on it! Aren't I cool?
Me: Why, yes you are, but you also have MySpace/LJ/both, and I can communicate with you from there.
You: Yes, but we can't slap each other with fish or throw animals at each other on MySpace/LJ!!!
Me: Yes, and although that sounds cool, and Monty Python-esque, and it's somewhat convincing, I can still live without it. I know you in person already and can do silly things with you in person. Plus, we are only virtually slapping each other with fish, we are not really doing it.
You: Yes, but Facebook has better layouts than MySpace!
Me: I don't look at the MySpace layouts that often, I go more for the blogs and messaging and commenting and pictures.
So, if your initial response was a part or all of that imaginary example conversation, give your fingers a rest, I'm not convinced.
I joined LiveJournal because
redjadefire invited me and said it was a good journal and I got to communicate with my friends who had LJ, and there were quite a few people I knew who did. I ended up really liking it. I joined MySpace because two of my cousins, my yoga teacher, and my friend Xiayu (who rarely updated his LJ) were on it. Then I found quite a few other people who were on it who didn't have LJ, and some who did.
So, in order to convince me to get this Facebook, I need either
1) One really awesome fantastic feature on Facebook that I can't get on either LJ or MySpace (besides slapping each other with fish or whatnot)
2) The names of FOUR people who you and I both know and like who don't have MySpace or LJ. (I already know only one person, Patricia.)
