I need to record today for posterity as one of the best days in my current memory. To catch all you lovely LJ'ers up, I decided on a whim about 3 weeks ago to stop in at the eye doctor in the same building as my office while I was waiting for a co-worker to get off of work. I figured it had been about a year since I had gotten new glasses or contacts, so why not, considering I still had health benefit flex dollars that I needed to spend or I'd lose 'em. Little did I know that upon walking in I'd meet the single most charming woman I've ever laid eyes on! Ladies and gentlemen of the internet, it was one of those situations where someone's smile is disarming, demanding your full attention. Everything about her was attractive; her playfulness, her shiny, short, wavy dark hair, the aforementioned exceptional smile, her choice of tattoos: some small and sly, others bold and equal parts fanciful and morbid, her patience and warmth. She told me my eyes were beautiful and my stomach bloomed with butterflies.
TL, DR: I was smitten.
I impulsively scheduled an eye appointment, then took off for an incredible week with my family in northern Michigan. When I came back for the exam, she told me she was just talking about m...y glasses, and she had remembered my face and "had a vision" of the pair I was supposed to by. Damned if, after trying on every single pair I remotely liked, it wasn't the pair I wound up buying. At the end of the appointment, when she asked if I had any questions, fueled with teenage-like supercrush powers I asked "How did you get so amazing?" The entire time, our eyes were locked and smiles set on stun.
Today, friends, my glasses came in and when I went to pick them up, she had me do a fashion walk, held out her hand, and said to come back *all* the time. I was so giddy I could barely speak. 2 hours later, emboldened by bestie Brady and my bro numero uno Dan, I popped back into the optician's office and asked
"When do you get off work?"
A few questions and answers later, we made plans to get coffee on Monday! And as I turned to leave, she winked at me!
TL, DR: I asked someone out who makes my stomachpieces flutter and SHE SAID YES!
To top the day off, beloved Paulcifer, who has the spare keys to my apartment, stopped by to take a bath and wound up buying me a huge and amazing Harley Quinn collectible doll! He left it as a surprise in my living room! And my lovely friend Angie came over and we played scrabble, drank vodka tonics and went over to Lucky's for some fries and great conversation.
Today, my friends, was 100% perfect.
