It seems to be that time of year again. Shark Week is very important to Shiro, so he persists in nudging me in the side whenever I fall asleep, so I don't miss the third reruns at 5 AM. Perhaps he hasn't been eating enough?

It's educational, at least. If I ever need to have an involved debate about sharks in English class, I predict full marks.

There's a festival for sharks?

Not exactly. It's more like a series of television shows.

Are they doing anything out of the ordinary or just eating things?

They're going about their undersea lives in a manner that is intended to indicate that they're not as dangerous as they seem all the time... but yes, mostly it consists of them eating things.

They don't tend to give off how dangerous they are till you're looking at all their teeth. Once caught one and it's harmlessly on the deck playing dead until a swabbie got one step too close. Lost a leg.

Suppose it'd be interesting to watch all glorified-like for the masses if you're not there when it's happening.

It's mostly reenactments, in any case.

They have an actor play the shark?

I'm not entirely sure of the process, but I can guarantee you that actors don't play the sharks. Perhaps they use stock footage of real sharks, or have some sort of mechanical one?
