Have you heard of the magpie counting rhyme? It seems they're a bird of omens, if nothing else. I believe the most common version goes "One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy--"

I'm not a European magpie, for one, and for another, there certainly aren't going to be any more of me coming out of the woodwork!
