Happy New Year!

Dec 31, 2008 21:05

Holidays were great. spent them with genesies family, it was very relaxed. Woke up late in the morning, went downstairs, made sure we were fully awake, then we exchanged gifts. after that we just hung out all day, played video games, and watched movies.

tonight i guess we are going to play some cranium and another game that genesie got for chirstmas. i got gen a Zune, she likes it, its green, and its one of the small ones, i got an engraving of "the great wave" on the back (the japanese woodblock) then "whats your favorite week of the year? SHARKWEEK!", its one of the first questions she asked me, and we both had the same answer for it.

i also got to talk to nicki around the holidays, which was nice as i have not talked to her for quite a while. she seems really busy.

anyway, me and gen start our road trip on sat. morning at 6am, i think im going to wake up at 5am so i can pack the car and be ready to go. my plan is that we will leave while it is still a little dark, i'll be rested, then gen can sleep in the car while i drive during the morning. i'll be able to drive pretty much until night, we will easily be able to drive until nightfall which is 9pm or so, but if there is not a lot of previous snow fall whereever we are at 9pm then it would be easy enough to drive until midnight-2am. then for the first night we are going to try to sleep in the car, im not sure how well this is going to work, but if its not horrible and we are fortunate enough to get good weather and we move quickly, then it will save us a lot of money on hotel rooms.

Im glad gas prices are so low right now, I filled up gens car the day we got here, we just finished that tank today, so we will probably be leaving with a full take of gas. her car is a full size, very comfortable. the best part is to fill the 13.5 gallon take was exactly $20 today, if those prices stick then we should only need about $140 to get across the country if we stick to driving about 70mph, if we go faster we might need 1 full extra tank because at 80mph the mpg goes to shit in her car. if we drive slower we might actually save some money... say 55-60mph because of weather.

anyway i wish we could stay here another week, but time is getting sure, and its possible we get stuck in the snow on our 2500 mile roadtrip, and we need to plan for the worst, which means leaving asap.

anyway, i might post again when i get there. toodaloo.
