Today was the last day of my internship. I didn't think that it was going to be sad at all because I don't feel like I've learned a lot there. In fact, I never looked forward to going in every day. I got one story published, but other than that I never had very much to do.
But today I spent the whole day with the other interns and they are such a blast! I got to know a lot of them a lot better, and after cake and a small awards ceremony, a bunch of us went out to dinner together. It was a rather funny scene, me and one other girl, and then five black teenage boys walking the streets of downtown Detroit in search of a Coney Island with a decent menu.
At the end of it all, I realized that I was really going to miss them and our supervisor. Yesterday I organized a way for us all to pitch in and get her a gift, and she was so happy! She said we were the first intern class to get her a thank you card and gift.
I've been very moody about leaving for college lately. Sometimes I'm excited, sometimes I'm sad. Move-in day is two weeks from tomorrow...
