It's a little bit soon for something like that, don't you think? You really scared her. Something like that can easily go wrong, especially with beginners.

And if that's what you had in mind, you shouldn't have choked her. There's no reason to go all-out on a little girl even if she did manage to stab you.

Vhy'z dot? Hyu not plannink on anodder prison trip until next year?
Ve's on a pirate ship, keed. Ov cozz I scared her. Dot vos de point. Vhy teach her anytink if she forgets it vhen she'z scared?

*clearly confused at the next part* Vot hyu talkink about? If she kept her head und stabbed me again, I vouldn't haff choked her.

Heihachi's feeling the urge to head-desk. smiling_samurai April 28 2009, 23:44:54 UTC
There's no point in beating a lesson into her either. You can teach a person to fight perfectly well without scaring them half to death and without hurting them too badly. Of course if someone who she thought she could trust suddenly turned on her in a fight she's going to be scared and confused and not know what to do.

All you're going to do is teach her to react badly in a combat situation. You need to let her build up some confidence and fight with her head, not just throw her into painful situations and have instincts take over. Not like Gorobei sometimes gets.

I wasn't insulting you, and I'm not interested in fighting you. I don't doubt your skills, just your teaching methods. There's better ways to teach than just to make her fear pain and react on instinct.

Next time you train her, I want to watch. If you're going too far, I'll tell you. If you aren't taking care of her, you won't be training her, it's that simple. There's other people here who can teach her how to fight in a way that won't make her end up unconcious in the infirmary and I don't ever want to see that happening again.

Oh my. Now he's **telling Jenka what to do**. That is NOT going to end well. causink_trouble April 29 2009, 00:08:27 UTC
*angry growl*

Hyu gots some reason to tink I cares vot hyu vants?

Sorry Jenka. :D This is the only Samurai who WONT get riled up. smiling_samurai April 29 2009, 00:19:51 UTC
You don't have to, no. But if you hurt her again then you won't be training her and that's all there is to it.

Sorry, Jenka, but Komachi's protection is our responsibility, and no matter what you think or say it's not okay to strangle a ten year old in a training match.

That's... probably a good thing. But damn his phrasing is annoying! causink_trouble April 29 2009, 00:37:18 UTC
*half snide, half actually asking* She hyours den, or hyu just plannink to lock her up?

*honestly doesn't get it* Und vot hyu so vorried about, anyvay? Girl iz fine! She vos smiling at me before de stitching vos finished.

Well he's very sorry for that. :D Kind of. smiling_samurai April 29 2009, 02:58:03 UTC
I don't need to lock her up. She's a good girl and I'm happy that she wants to learn. I'm even happy that she's branching out and meeting new people like yourself, Miss Jenka. I just don't want her to learn in a way that injures her that badly when it doesn't need to be like that. Just because it's the way you were taught, doesn't mean it's the only way.

[ooc: about a half hour passes IC before this reply shows up. And yes, she has much less of an accent now.]

...

Heihachi. You're asking me to train her your vay. That doesn't make sense, and she's not going to get much out ov it.

I can try to explain. I'm not teaching her to let her instincts take over. I vant her to use her head vhen she's hurt or scared - so I'm getting her used to it in a situation vhere she izn't going to die if she gets it wrong.
If you teach her vithout pain, how do you think she'll react the first time she's hurt in a real fight? Just like she did vith me, and it von't end vell.

Und don't call me dat.

Heihachi thinks this is an improvement!...By a little, anyway. smiling_samurai April 30 2009, 08:03:35 UTC
I know training's not supposed to be painless. We've all had those moments where you swing a sword until your arms ache or get hit by your sparring partner because you didn't block properly. It happens.

But you don't go all out on a little girl while she's only just beginning. That's overkill, and unnessary. You don't need to scare her to make her learn. She's had enough of that already.

Being reasonable is so damn hard! causink_trouble April 30 2009, 08:15:41 UTC
*barely audible - she's not talking into the journal* bloody confusing humans!!

*normal volume, calmer*
You'z not answering anyting I said.

I already know you tink it's overkill und unnecessary, I just haff no idea vhy.
Und believe me, that vosn't anyvhere near 'all out'. *is annoyed, but still can't help but chuckle at Heihachi's idea of what pain is*

But patience has its own rewards~ smiling_samurai April 30 2009, 08:25:17 UTC
Because accidents happen. Because treating her the way you did is just as likely to cause more harm than good. Sometimes if you push too hard and too fast, people don't get stronger, they break. And because most other people understand that, Jenka, but you don't seem to, and while I don't think you're a bad person I'm not going to trust her safety to you when your values seem a little...extreme.

*Believe me, Heihachi's had worse pain than that, but he's not going to give her any more ideas that that on what's allowed and what's not* And I'm sure if you'd gone all out you would have killed her, and while she's not on the safest ship in the world she's only ten. She's got years of growing, and people to protect her while she does it. We're not going to be throwing her out on the front lines, so we're not going to push her to do or die.
