I am really disappointed with the teaching program here at Central. I was really excited about student teaching and everything since that is next semester. I only have one diversity requirement to fulfill, which I let me coordinator know. She only works in two school district, Royal Oak and Troy. Well, Troy actually would fill my last diversity requirement, but go figure, I was placed in Royal Oak. Then today, I called the teacher that I was supposed to be placed with only to find out that he's teaching drama classes, speech communications classes, and a TV production class...all things that I have no background in whatsoever. He said it'd be very frustrating for me since I wouldn't know what I was doing, and I agree with him. I was told that he was head of the English department, but obviously, my coordinator was misinformed.
This results in me having no placement at all when we were supposed to be placed by November 17th. I emailed my coordinator to let her know, but I have no clue what else to do. We only have three weeks left until the end of the semester, and now I'm scared that it's going to be too late to place me. I know that I have to get a placement because it's not my fault, but I don't want to get stuck somewhere just for the sake of having to student teach to graduate. I've emailed a few people to try to figure something out and who I can talk to. I just think it's really shitty that things are this disorganized and such. I was told that there's nothing I can do except talk with my coordinator and meet with my host teacher. I don't think they understand that I'M NOT GOING INTO DRAMA. The placement isn't going to work, and I just got screwed.
Like I said before, I was really excited about student teaching and actually getting to put into practice what I've been learning, but it's turning into a real nightmare. I hope that no one else is going through this nightmare that I am with this whole thing. It only figures though because I've had a string of bad luck lately, and this just tops it all off. I don't think that anything else can go wrong. *knocks on wood* At least I'll be getting out of town for a few days and eating good food. The way my luck has been going though, something is bound to happen.
