lo! february is upon us! let us look to hibernating rodents for seasonal prescience! let us share in feelings of love through little candy hearts and chocolate and red and pink everything! let us confess our wrongs and proclaim a fast for forty days in a gesture beseeching forgiveness, and then eat pancakes (Shrove Tuesday, aka Pancake Day!). let us honor the birth of former presidents Lincoln and Washington on the same day! let us remind ourselves that black people have a history! yes, february plays host to many a cause for celebration. and well-worthy it is, as it carries the beginnings of the change in season. the gloomy death of winter is purified into the fertility and renewal of spring. thank you, februus!
so here i am, two days shy of the ides of february, and just over two weeks shy of the kalends of march and my 21st year passed. i am becoming increasingly aware of my own lassitude concerning the direction of my efforts in general. not necessarily that i am letting my time go to waste, but rather i am lingering in places i am past, so to speak. it is becoming more and more apparent that i need to catch up with myself, and essentially come into my own. so what will i do? simply seek opportunity? honestly, i don't know, but i can optimistically say that what i aim for will be something more than what i've got now, and there will be significantly less fast food.
