Bridal Shower

My weekend was fun. It started with Mari coming down wednesday evening for some fun and frolicking. I took thurs-mon off work, so we could hang out and do lots of fun stuff. Thursday we took a drive out to Lurray Caverns, two hours west of here, in the hill country (well, there were hills) and we visited the caverns which were very pretty. Lots and lots of stalagmites and stalactites, in a few different colors. It was lots of fun, and worth the 2 hour drive in my un-airconditioned car. The way home was cooler, so a much nicer drive, plus.. ice cream for desert. Friday we went clothes shopping at Kohl's (I was looking for pants and maybe a skirt, but I only found a few shirts) and then saw the new Harry Potter movie. The movie was good, even though it deviated alot from the 5th book, still very entertaining. That evening we went out to dinner in Old Town Alexandria, which, ironically enough was having a Harry Potter night for the release of the 7th and final book. So, of course we had to walk around for a while after dinner looking at all of the people dressed up, and all of the stores doing harry potter related stuff.

Saturday after we woke up we sat around my apartment till noon, when our copies of the new Harry Potter were delivered, then set out to do some last minute shopping for Stephy's Bridal Shower, and then after that we went into DC to jsut walk around the slightly less touristy places. I say slightly less, because I don't hang out that much in DC, so I don't know where all the cool under the radar areas area, just a few non-momunment and non-museumed areas that I know about. Sunday we woke up vewy vewy earlier (7:30) so that we could be on the road by 9am, which ended up being 9:30 because we needed to stop for ice and snacks, then I realised I forgot my cell phone in my apt, till we were off to Stephy's mom's house. We threw Stephy a not-quite a surprise Bridal Shower (she knew when and where it was going to be) that went smashingly. Kudo's go out to Jess, Beth, Dana and Jen who cooked up an amazing spread that was very well recieved. The shower itself went very well, we played a few games, drank a bit, ate a lot, and Stephy ended the day with a ton of loot.

Other then that, the last Harry Potter was very good, I finished it on Tuesday, and it contained a few surprises, and a few not-quite surprises. I don't want to give anything away because I am sure some people have not read it yet but are planning on reading it. Also, planning is in full swing for the bachlorette party (which I am very much looking forward) which is coming up in the next month. I am not going to give any details on it in here, because this one is a surprise, and Stephy reads this, but it should be a blast, and end in all of us shit-faced. :)
