Letter Update

I haven't updated in a while, and I wrote a letter to my friend that was like an update on me, so I figured i'd just post it. :)

Hey Kristi :)

I'm glad that you are doing well. My website again is www.smileybyte.net, it's up and just has a little bit of my art, and is still under construction. I just wanted to throw something up there for now so that I could at least share my art and post some photos. I'm glad that your cat is doing better too, that's kinda funny how he would stare at the wall and drool... :)

Right now, I'm continuing with my professional student status and I am taking two classes this semester. One of them is really really hard, the make or break class. It's advanced statistics, most people usually fail it, but I'm really going to make an effort to pass with a good grade. My other class is a computer security class, it's probably my favorite thus far, it's really interesting and I'm learning a lot. :)

Other than that, I got a new car radio that I'm going to get installed tomorrow, I'm happy with it because it plays mp3s and has a audio aux input so that I can plug in my mp3 players into it and it will play over the car stereo (me and my gadgets).

Oh yea, I recommend that you get a gmail account, it's a lot better than yahoo, and it also gives you a lot more space. Most computer people have accounts with gmail because it's just the best out there for webmail. :) I sent you an invite so try it out and see if you like it better.

As for Chris, a few weeks ago we went to go see his mom and sister in Arizona. It was a 4 day trip but it was really fun and laid back. His sister has two kids and it was the first time Chris or I saw them. They are 1 and 3, and are very very cute. While we were there we took Chris's mom out to the casino (like 2 blocks from where they live) and played bingo. We didn't win, but we got these casino cards where if we came back in 24 hours we would be given $10. So all went back the next day and gambled a little. The previous night I did well at a monopoly machine (won like $110), and then when we played it again, I ended up losing about the same amount. We were about to leave but I wanted to play blackjack.

The dealer was standing there are alone so I figure "heck, why not?" I was helping chris's mom learn how to play, and Chris played too. They had this little side bet for 50 cents where if you got certain cards you could win money. So we played for a while, Chris's mom started wining some money, and Chris and I were losing money. Chris's mom gave Chris some chips to keep playing. A few hands later, Chris got a 2, 3, 4, 5 of clubs. The dealer said "Oh, I think that you won something," and looked it up on his chart. "You won $2,000," he told Chris. "No way!" he said.

He remained to be in disbelief and the dealer told us that if the next card that was drawn was a 7 he would win $10,000, and if it was a 7 of clubs he would win $40,000. I was just so happy for him, but sadly it was a 10 of hearts. But still, he won $2,000. It took a while for them to give him his money because they had to go and replay the security tapes to see if it was a legitimate win. After about 15 or 20 minutes, he gave us tons of black chips and we went to the cashier to cash out. Chris gave me and his mom $50 each to keep gambling, but we didn't win anything.

That was a good memory, although I think seeing his family again was the main highlight of the trip. Also, another good thing that happened to Chris, is that my dad gave Chris his old truck. :) My dad is going to get himself a used car, and figures that the truck would be worth more if Chris used it. So Chris will probably end up using the money he got to pay for car registration and vehicle stuff.

Well, that's about all that's happening right now. I hope to hear more from you later. :) Let me know when you come back down to California. Bring me a lei (plumeria) when you come back!!! :-D
