Life, the Universe and Everything??

Okay. So I'm tempted tp write what is bound to be a lengty entry, but I also know I should be getting to bed. And it's on my laptop, which has some issues with lots of typing. (Well, actually it's the fact that some what reguarly, it will click when I didn't tell it too. This means that my cursor moves to where ever the mouse was. if I'm typing, and the mouse is in the center of the page, I'm suddenly typing there. Which can get annoying fast actually. I've learned pretty well to keep the mouse in some "neutral" spots on the screen.)

Anyways, I just got back from a 'date' with Victoria whom I meet online. We went to go see "Man of the Year." I shall start with the movie first. Go See It!! I think it was well done and made several good points. It made points on things beyond political into culutural and social. Much of what Robin Williams character is the political stuff. Or more should I say the political problems. He basically brings to light many of the issues with the current political system. One thing is that he does not use any money to promote his canedecy. "Canidates aren't products to be sold" is his claim. And by doing this, he says that he does not need to do any 'favors' for those who gave him financial support.

At the heart of the movie is actually an ethical issue. I shall not go into it much, since I don't want to give too much away, nor do I feel like doing a Spolier cut. I will say though that I think it was done very well, even though in the end it does give the ideological results. But still, I think it was done better then others I've seen. Another point that is part of the message of the movie is best sumed up by a little speech my Lewis Black's character near the end of the movie. It brings up and issue with television that I believe is also an issue with the Internet. Maybe I'll say more on this later. Oh, and my last comment on the movie. The other too Canidates names. Writers must have been eating Breakfast when the came up with them. (A little teaser for you all so you go see it.)

So, now onto the other stuff. The date was okay, but nothing special. I've been talking with Vic for a couple weeks, but this was the first time we meet. I don't think things are really clicking for us. I dunno. I think the problem is with me and dating sites. This is the first time I've done this, so maybe it's just a trial and error till I get things right. But I'm not too good at getting to know a person with out meetings them. I tend to use visual/audio clues (for lack of a better term) to understand people and build my 'mental impression' of them. I thought about this for a bit and realized that people should not meet based on their interests, but because of their interests. We all need some common ground to start on. Now, I'm not saying that it means people are the same. A girl that I could meet hiking doesn't nee to love Firefly or be big into camping and traveling. (although admitedly, there are some similarity in that example.) But I think you get my point here. Now, I'm not going to totally write this stuff off. I'll give it another shot. There's another person that's shown some interest in me. So I'll take what I've learned and try again.

Now, if that doesn't work, then what you say? I'm not the big social person. Don't do bars or clubs. So how am I gonna meet people. Well, firstly I'm gonna start going to grad school next semester hopefully. So I'll meet people there and get involved with some stuff. Other than that, I guess I'll just need to go out and do more stuff and hope to meet people. Oh, and I'm sure by moving, I'll meet some more people too.

Well, that's all for now. I need to get myself to bed. Ciao for now!!
